The best ‘After the Work’ scene At OMR. People who are looking forward to Grab a drink and just laze with some good music in this locality can head straight to Evoke. This Bistro Bar offers some delicious Finger fOod to a range of offerings from the charcoal grill, which they are definitely worth a try.
Crack open a bottle of red, indulge in a fresh cocktail or finish the day with a top-shelf martini from the bar.
Location & Ambience :
The spot is on the Buzzing point of the city ,The IT Hub OMR. Located next to the OMR Food Street and they sharing the building with Car cars, Evoke is on the 2nd floor and the entrance is very quirky like entering into a goblin house :p
Address : 5/360, 2nd Floor, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, OMR, Okkiyam, Thuraipakkam, Chennai.
Coming to the Ambience, just like any other bar there was a Dance Floor , fancy bar counter with High stools and 4 seater Sofas . The dim lit lights and the music around the bar can easily enlighten the Crowd with the seating space less than 50 which makes it compact . the Dining area is Pristine in a posh hotel-ish way, spiffed up in luxe shades of black, brown and gold.
Food & Drinks :
Mocktail : Lychee Mojito ,pretty unusual to see big Pieces of lychee floating in the drink but it was refreshing and strong which was a good companion to my meal .
Cocktail : Rum Runner,The name is the real deal.if you like rum then this should be the drink you should order here.
Fish and Chips
The Star dish of the evening. Fish and Chips always been my comfort food and it means a real deal to me when it comes to perfect Batter fried Fish and The sauce . The Fish was fresh and crispy ,the batter had some indian spice which made it to the indian version. The kickass was the Tartar sauce not sure it’s homemade but one of the best i had in the recent days.
Money Bags -Veg
MOre like a fried Wonton dumplings ,vegetables are sauteed lightly, wrapped and fried in the wonton wrappers.loved the presentation was less oily and crunchy, This can be one of the star starter for the vegetarians.
The Spices and Mutton has been grounded well into a patty and has been deep fried, by the looks of it thought its going to be very dry dish and hard but after the first bite i can get the flavours of spices and the minced mutton which has been blended together to give that perfect taste.
Chicken Drumsticks has been grilled and served along papad, wasn’t happy with this dish out of 3 leg pieces 2 were undercooked.the flesh outside was firm to bite and was chargrilled .
Egg and cream Spaghetti with Seared Prawns
It is a cream and egg infused Spaghetti pasta with black olive & tiger prawns ,served with garlic bread . The prawns dint have much flavour to it like the spaghetti was bland and buttery .
Crispy Noodles was topped off with chunks of chicken pieces and a good amount of boiled baby corn, zucchini, carrots .the only difference between this dish and american chopsuey is that noodles and the gravy will be served separately.
The much anticipated dish just for the way it has been presented on the table ,chicken breast grilled and glazed in balsamic vinegar & small onions sauce served with mashed potato and sauteed veggies. The vinegar sauce is a disappointment and doesn’t appeal good to my tastebud.the veggies had a bland flavour .
Butter chicken & Naan
Nothing beats Indian Food. the butter chicken had some great blend of flavours with pieces of chicken chunks which was succulent and delicious. The naan was good and went well with the gravy.
There was a good coordination on bringing the food to table, Neat Service and courteous Staff.
Boiling to down:
I will recommend this place for a lazy day or weekend when you want to catch up with mates for few drinks and just chill. A little improvement on few dishes will make it to a complete Wine & Dine experience.
Happy Eating !:)
