Fun & Fusion Asian Food | Mamagoto|Velachery

Mamagoto The Fun Asian Restaurant has opened it’s second wing at Pheonix market city, Chennai. Adding to the Stirring, There is some Exciting  New dishes in the Menu. I was recently invited to dine here so Read On To know more about it.

Crystal Dumplings (Veg)

It was a thin, stretchy, translucent dough outside looked like crystal with shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, carrots and Lotus steam. It was good But if you have eaten N.veg Dim sum for whole life this would be little hard since it’s just steamed and healthier version to Dim sum category.

Old School Gyoza (N.Veg)

The momo’s are filled with minced chicken and some vegetable to give the little crunch and it has been slightly fried and steamed which has been served the In house Sauce.

Hua Hin highway Rolls (Veg)

Highway Rolls is a Local Love and a dish which has been inspired from the Islands of Thailand.  It’s a traditional Roll made of Crispy asparagus, Lemon grass and loads of cheese. The Taste was so Gooood! And it is a dish that i will recommend.

Rock Shrimp Tempura

I have tried this dish more than twice at the Nungambakkam branch and I absolutely loved it. It’s like eating Shrimp popcorn, the shrimps are deep batter fried served with Creamy Spicy Sauce which is simply the best.

Hot Basil Chicken Cups

An aromatic mix of minced chicken, fresh basil, red chillies, soya wrapped in lettuce greens. Its fresh and a light dish and one of the dishes which showcase the traditional style of eating Food in hand.

Spicy Bangkok rice Bowl (Chicken)

My personal Favourite of all the dishes I tried here. Easy peasy on pockets and no blunder Dish if you are trying Pan Asian cuisine for the first time. Sections of Spicy Minced chicken curry topped with Fried sticky rice garnished with boiled egg served with chopped red chillies and lemon wedges. The Sticky rice had the flavours of Garlic and chilli digging in further to the sticky Rice is the chicken curry which was a sinful delight. The dish can be easily shared by 2, a complete Dish and a Must Try.

Chiang Mai Train station Noodles

Such a fancy name! The dish is inspired from the Chiang mai city railway station in Thailand where the Noodles are one of the busiest hot selling. This is a perfect Local food of Thailand which has a lot of flavours to it. Coconut Milk is the strong ingredient while the Noodles Gives up the perfect balance to the curry it is served up in an enormous bowl and garnished with a playful tangle of crunchy Noodles.

Chicken Aniseed

Aniseed the star ingredient to the dish, it was more like a starter than the Main dish .best is to eat it separately than combining with any other dish. Diced chicken are sautéed with spices and was more like any Chinese chicken starter, nothing to rave about.

Caramel sponge Cake with Toffee Sauce:

It’s one of the Mamagoto’s special dessert; house made Sponge cake with Toffee sauce served with Vanilla ice cream is all  what you need to end  a perfect meal.

Coconut Ice cream:

A strong flavour of coconut, I felt it was more like eating a Thai dish in the form of ice cream. Very well put dish.

Banoffee Pie:

Combination of Banana, cream and  caramel with the crumbled Biscuit base.  Every time I visit Mamagoto, Banoffee is one of the dessert I prefer ordering.

The place was packed and the staffs were running around to settle up the orders which they managed to do efficiently. Service was a bit slow considering the crowd and they in the launching phase with less manpower.

Pan Asian Cuisine with some exciting contemporary Dishes with a quirky Ambience makes Mamagoto a happy place to Dine. The Price Range are on the Higher side, but let’s not forget the quantity and the fact that some of the main courses can feed a family. A restaurant which has equal veg options as N.veg, which is the exciting part for the vegetarians who are skeptical about trying Asian cuisine for the first time.

Happy Eating!:)
